Typical Airline Experience

  • BOOKING: Find a route and pay for it – this is where the normal airlines have the edge since they fly out of significantly more places
  • AIRPORT EXPERIENCE / CHECK-IN: Arrive 2 hours before your flight (3 hours for international flights), pay for parking, go through airport security (can be less than 5 minutes with TSA Precheck and Clear but those are paid services and that’s best case scenarios) and then wait at the airport (lounges again are a paid perk)
  • ONBOARD EXPERIENCE: Welp – you’ve been there. If you have status (plus are lucky) or are willing to pay for seats at the front of the plane, it’s not too bad but boarding closes 15-30 minutes before the plane takes off. In economy, the seats are tiny and people are scrambling to fit their over-packed carryons in the spaces above. And definitely not getting free cocktails, beer and wine or gourmet snacks.
