5,000 point Aeroplan® Flight Reward Certificate Details

  • Flight reward certificates have no cash value and cannot be exchanged or refunded.
  • For the purposes of this offer, the expiry date of the Flight reward certificate is 365 days after the day that the flight reward certificate is deposited into your Aeroplan account.
  • The certificate can only be used towards a new booking (cannot apply to an existing reservation) made directly with Aeroplan, via aircanada.com/aeroplan, the Air Canada Mobile App, or through the Aeroplan call center.
  • The flight reward certificate reduces the base fare in points of a single Aeroplan flight reward ticket (ie if the flight is 60,000 miles, the certificate would reduce by 5K and you would use 55K Aeroplan miles)
  • You are responsible for all incidental charges, including any taxes, partner booking fees and 3rd party charges which apply to the Aeroplan flight reward.
  • Changes or cancellations are allowed according to the fare rules of the flight reward booked (applicable fees will be assessed)
    • If you cancel, the certificate will be redeposited to your account and the original flight reward certificate expiry will apply.

How I Have Used Aeroplan® Miles (Real Life Examples)

Instead of paying $7K for a business class flight, I used 70K Aeroplan Miles (and transfered from Chase when there was a 20% transfer bonus so I only needed to use 58,333 UR points). Honestly the flight from BOS – ZRH was pretty mid but I was able to explore two new cities which was the whole reason to book this flight. And was able to fly SAS from ZRH – CPH which was one of the best flights I had in 2024.

And in totally Rosemary fashion, Air Canada Aeroplan miles have been clutch for last minute/complete change of itinerary flights. Flying in/out of Iceland would have been expensive but I was able to use just 12.5 Aeroplan miles instead of paying $901.45 but even more importantly, flying direct vs having to connect overnight in Reykavik!

Why Should You Do This?

If you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve card, there is no reason not to do this as it is completely free – you just need to do this before the end of the offer period. I have found so much value with Aeroplan miles for Star Alliance flights!

Did I Ever Receive My Certificate?

YES! I didn’t expect a fast turnaround but especially as Air Canada ceased operations due to flight attendants striking…as luck would have it, the flight certificate showed up in my Air Canada account right after the strike was resolved on August 19, 2025

Where to Find Flight Reward Certificate

On the website: you must be logged in -> My Aeroplan -> Benefits section: as seen in the left photo. When you click “redeem”, you will see the details as in the middle photo (ie 5,000 points certificate and the expiration date – one year from when the certificate is deposited into your account)

On the app, if you scroll down whilst in the overview section, you will see 1 (or more if you have them) flight certificate(s).
