Planning For the LA28 Summer Olympics? Then You Will Definitely Want to Check Out This Ticket Prices List!

Most Recently Updated August 8, 2026

I decided to put my Visa Presale time slot to good use and compile this list of ticket prices since I opted not to get any tickets (more on why I didn’t and my thoughts on the pricing at the end).

First, you’ll find general Olympic ticket information along with LA28 specific ticket information and logistics.

Sports are listed alphabetically to make it easier to search via the Table of Contents and I tried to include men’s and women’s games as applicable. Now this is a true labor of love (since I don’t use AI and write everything myself) and ALL disciplines are now accounted for!

I had to keep things manageable so not every session could be listed. But I did want to highlight variations and make it easier to compare, so there are ticket prices for a Preliminary, Round of 16/Quarterfinal/ and Gold Medal/Final Sessions (as applicable) for each sport.

The 24% service fee LA28 charges IS included in the price you see and that the “XXX01” info you see in parenthesis is the specific session I looked at.

Lastly, LA28 has confirmed that ticket prices have remained the same across the ticket drops (so far there have been three: the locals pre-sale, ticket drop #1 and a Visa presale) BUT an important note is that LA28 HAS NOT ruled out dynamic pricing as the Games get closer =/

What To Know About Buying Olympic Tickets

Zoned Selling, Not Seat Mapping

If you have never bought a ticket for a large international sporting event, they are very different from what you are used to. You purchase color-coded price categories (Categories A, B, C, and D) rather than picking out specific sections, rows, or seat numbers.

Delayed Assignments

Yes this does mean that you are paying blindly upfront for a ticket in a price category versus a specific seat and that there are lots of variations within a Category. LA28 will assign your physical row and seat numbers weeks or days before the event begins – they will attempt to group multi-ticket transactions together as closely as possible.

Why They Do This (And Why Speed Matters)

International governing bodies use this method to account for dynamic venue modifications. For example, if LA28 needs to adjust the size of the media press box at the LA Coliseum or needs to move camera platforms at SoFi Stadium, they can shift physical seats around without issuing thousands of refunds.

Because of this, your checkout strategy is based on speed: this type of purchase does not require endless scrutinization of a seat map. Simply pick your letter category, click add-to-cart, check out and pay. The comfort is knowing that you will now be attending the LA28 Olympics!

Seating Exceptions

Hospitality Packages

These are priced considerably higher (ha! and that’s saying something for LA28) but do come with the benefit of knowing exactly where your seats are in addition to having a hospitality package. FYI for LA28, Men’s and Women’s Basketball games, ALL category A and B are ONLY available as hospitality tickets.

Last-Minute Ticket Sale

If LA28 releases these, you will likely be able to see seating information as last minute tickets sales have historically occured within a month of the games starting (true for Paris2024 and Milano-Cortina2026).

Explore the venues and zones

Logistics matter but even moreso for large scale events like the Olympics. Driving in Los Angeles can be rough during the best of times so that is definitely something to take into account.

I would urge caution if you are planning on attending more than two events in a day but if you do, choose very large gaps in times between the two sessions. And give yourself lots of time between the events – you are likely to underestimate how long it will take between getting in and out of venues (security and just dealing with large masses of people) and getting to venues (driving, parking and walking).

Ticket Maximum

Be aware of the 12-ticket maximum per account across all sports and sessions (including if you buy for friends and family!). There are the following exceptions

  • The Football (Soccer) Exception: Soccer matches are completely separate. You get 12 general tickets PLUS 12 football tickets.
  • The Ceremony Exception: The exception here means ceremonies have a stricter sub-cap. You cannot use your 12-ticket limit to buy 12 Opening Ceremony tickets; you can only buy up to 4 per ceremony per account. Important those 4 still count against your overall 12-ticket maximum

Also remember that your ticket limits are cumulative across all ticket drops. If you already bought 4 tickets during an earlier phase, those 4 tickets remain permanently counted against your 12-ticket Total during any other subsequent ticket drops.

Again, LA28 has confirmed that ticket prices have remained the same across the ticket drops (so far there have been three: the locals pre-sale, ticket drop #1 and a Visa presale) BUT an important note is that LA28 HAS NOT ruled out dynamic pricing as the Games get closer =/

Why Didn’t I Get Tickets for LA28?

First, with the Visa Presale being so close from when the World Cup 26 finished and with the Olympics starting in two years, I couldn’t commit to buying any tickets. Seriously, I know myself and the unbelievably high likelihood of changing travel plans especially those far off in the future!

And quite honestly, there was more than a bit of price shock and that with the 24% service fee gave me enough of the ick that I couldn’t bring myself to complete a ticket purchase.

After attending Paris2024 (and almost attending Milan 2026 winter Olympics) and seeing how they priced tickets made me realize that all my international friends were right and I was desensitized and used to an American pricing system. We aren’t outraged by 24% service fees (or at least enough to not buy tickets or try to get the system changed) nor do we find it outrageous how tickets are priced and perhaps even more importantly, we don’t bat an eye when we are further gouged by ticket resellers (if you haven’t been following along – look up the controversy behind Stubhub’s CEO and his financial ties to a company that resells tickets…on Stubhub)

LA28 ticket prices scale drastically based on the popularity of the sport, the stage of competition, and the venue seating tiers which for many of us, we would say ‘mmkay that makes total sense to do that’

But should ALL Athletics Finals sessions be the same price (vs premium for Men’s 100M and Women’s 100M) AND be the SAME prices as the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Finals? Okay, it was more than a bit of the ick for me.

To be fair, I am quite jaded with FIFA and the World Cup 26 only recently concluded so I can’t say how much of my ire is misplaced…but I also don’t think that I am completely wrong in how I am looking at it.

BUT, BUT I do want to highlight that while the Big Ticket events are quite expensive, that doesn’t mean that you aren’t able to have an affordable Olympics! I am really glad that I did this post as I was able to see that there are affordable tickets for a range of events.

I have talked about it in my buying tickets/time slot guides, that one of the things that you really need to decide re the Olympics is: Are you more focused on seeing a specific event (and willing to spend to see said event) or are you looking more for the Olympics experience?

I am admittedly quite sports-mad and willing to pay a pretty penny for certain events so my disappointment should not impact you IF you just want to attend an Olympics!

And while we don’t have any details on exactly what LA28 will have, there are likely to be some similar elements/activities to be able to be able to experience the Olympics without having to spend much money (see the free activities section below)!

What I Spent for My Paris2024 Tickets (and How It Affected My Thinking re LA28 Tickets)

This is what I paid for all of the sporting events I attended during those Olympics. Well, one of the days I was exhausted and couldn’t bring myself to deal with the brutal heat for an outdoor event so I gifted that €24.36 / $26.40 for Men’s Hockey at Stade Yves-du-Manior, Category D ticket.

Costs were so low here as Paris2024 actively kept ticket prices and fees reasonable.

What do I mean by that? LA28 tickets are more expensive across the board, there are more ticket categories for most sports and then there are the fees. 24% service fee for LA28 vs the 1.5% processing fee for Paris 2024. It’s hard to stomach all of that together.

Well….I didn’t feel like recreating that spreadsheet but my true total on the Paris2024 Games was actually $733.80 or $70.87 more. and for some amazing events and incredible seats. If you are curious about what seats I got for the Paris2024 events and how I ended up snagging them – read this and here’s a comparison between what I paid for my Paris2024 event tickets vs what it would cost at LA28

What’s not accounted for on that chart?

I did buy and sell some tickets through the official re-sale site. For example I ended up with a couple beach volleyball sessions but kept only the one with the incredible view of the Eiffel Tower DIRECTLY in front of me during the matches. Or when I ended up selling the first athletics Athletics ticket I bought because a better seat became available.

Again Paris2024 fees were reasonable with it being 10% more than the original ticket price when buying and 5% when selling on the official Paris2024 resale site (and no processing fee was charged!)

PLUS $27.82/€24.94 (includes €9.99 souvenir ticket delivery fee): I bought the commemorative paper tickets for all of my events that were €2.99 vs the $18 PER TICKET! LA28 is charging

That’s the other reason why I didn’t buy LA28 tickets with 24% service fee and a 12 ticket maximum (still hasn’t been disclosed how it will work with buying and re-selling tickets) as I am wanting to have LA28 be focused on the events that I wasn’t able to see in Paris (and I do have care about where I am seated).

Paris2024 Low Cost And Even Free Events To Get That Olympic Feeling

One of my favorite parts about Paris2024 were all the cheap and even free events that were honestly as fun to experience as some of the events! I know that seems impossible but let’s check out what I was able to do for free that was so cool!

Again we don’t know if LA28 will have all of these but there are definitely going to be a few similar events/set ups throughout the LA area to help set the Olympic mood.

Want to learn more about the free activities and events that happened during Paris2024 – so we can all hope/manifest for LA28 to do these as well?

Champions Parade @ Champion’s Park / Cost: FREE

Paris definitely made incredible use of its famous landmarks, no? Eiffel Tower is prominently centered at one end of Champions Park!

The photo montage above is from the Champions Parade that was held most days – basically this is where you got to celebrate the previous days’ medal winners!

Paris2024 was the first time that a host city had done something like this so fingers crossed that LA28 does something similar!

Olympic Watch Parties (Live Screening of Finals) @ Champion’s Park / Cost: FREE

The energy and excitement of the crowd amplifies watch parties! And the setting was pretty spectacular.

Paris2024 Cauldron (Along with the Eiffel Tower With Olympic Rings)

Day or night it was incredible catching glimpses of this around Paris

Free Souvenirs & Pin Trading

Corporate Sponsor Pop Ups Free activity – you might be more familiar with the viral Bank of America World Cup 26 bracelets but if you didn’t know, pin trading is a big thing at the Olympics!

Olympic Hospitality Houses / Cost: FREE up to €325 (ofc that would be the US pavilion)

Final Thoughts

I imagine that I will end up at LA28 since I am such a sports and Olympics nut…right now, I am having a hard time wrapping my head and wallet around the astronomical ticket prices and fees but I am also the person that went to two World Cup matches this year (and I actively loathe FIFA) Curious about those trips? Here’s how I was able to pull off my Vancouver trip and this is for the KC Quarterfinal match
