My Experience Attending A Free Concert Here

I attended the June 11 concert featuring The Man Cubs who as advertised played rock Disney covers.

I got to the park around 6:30 PM and entered off Bowles Avenue via the Library Entrance. I could tell that the West Parking Lot was already nearly full or likely already full so I parked in the North Parking lot. Walking to the Grant Amphitheater, I could hear someone patrolling the lot, checking with people were there for the concert or library as they attempted to park in the library parking lot. It was a 3 minute walk from my car to the concert area on a completely paved sidewalk.

We originally set up near the O Picnic shelter to make it easier for our other friends coming to find us. But we found as the concert started that that particular spot was less desirable due to the acoustics. Once we moved over to a spot more directly in front of the stage, we were able to better hear the band.

The vast majority of those attending were family groups not sure if this is typical (as this was the only time any of our group had come here) or if it was due to the musical act: The Man Cubs and Disney. It was very family friendly as there was a spot where kids congregated to dance near the stage plus there was a table for kids stuff – temporary tattoos according to what I heard from the kids near us. The amphitheater location is also ideally set up for families as there are many picnic shelters around as well as a playground and restroom facilities very close by.

Three food tents/trucks were there that night (Jet’s Pizza, Kona Shave Ice and Scoops Ice Cream). From what I could see most people brought in their own food and had a picnic whilst listening to the music but many did partake with the dessert trucks.

Overall, a fun and inexpensive way to enjoy an evening out with some friends. We didn’t stay for the whole show since most of us neglected to prepare for the cooler evening and ended up getting pretty cold lol rookie move I know! For whatever reason, I surprisingly had zero blankets and jackets in my car like I normally do (IYKYK)!
