Website Navigation: Different Post Types Deets + Helpful Hints

Hi – thanks so much for stopping by! Make yourself comfy and stay awhile….

There is so much info on here as you may have noticed that the good and bad thing about me is that I don’t have a specific travel style nor do I limit my travels to one place. I want to go everywhere in the world and do/see/experience everything and make my decisions currently on where to go based where I can get a good deal. But I know that it may be hard then for you to figure out where to find what you’re looking for so here’s a primer on getting around. Note: that I link as much related content as I can in my posts, so that’s one of the best ways to find related content.

Also the site continues to be a work in progress not only for catching up and writing posts for all of my travels from last year and this but the migration over to WordPress.org was anything but seamless or easy with all my old media being lost…so please bear with me as things are so much slower than I would like. I write all of my own posts and want them to be helpful and informative so most posts take three – six hours (also includes finding photos/media) which I am balancing with getting old posts up to date with media and categorized. In addition to continuing my travels while having started a new full time job!

Trip Reports

One of my aims is to really show you how it’s possible to travel hack (or simply how to travel for better, cheaper and/or more often) so these posts illustrate the strategies and techniques that I used for a particular trip. This is where I provide the receipts AKA how much I spent (cash, miles and points) and what I saved to showcase the value of travel hacking.

Trip Overviews

These focus on the itinerary for my trips – for shorter trips, these are the detailed reports for what I did and ate and will include specifics like how much I paid for an activity or meal for posts from 2023 onward. For longer trips, they serve as the anchor post for more detailed day to day posts (ie port stops when I am on a cruise).

Travel Guides

For destinations that I spend a few days at, these posts cover all you need to know to start planning your trip. Essentially what I wish I had researched before my trip but old habits die hard.

Port Stops

Since I have been taking so many cruises lately, I created a different style post: these will have port information and also are the detailed summaries of my day in port – for any recent trips, these also do include spending information.

Reviews

There are reviews for airlines (these cover specific flights ie American Airlines business class on a 787-9 plane), cruise lines (these are for specific ships), hotels (specific properties ie Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile) and lounges (again specific lounges ie British Airways first class lounge at London Heathrow Terminal 5).

Places – Countries

Organized by continent – then you can select the country. Currently set up that this will bring you to the categories page which lists all of the posts under that country…I am toying with the idea of organizing this content more but not sure what would make the most sense

Categories

Since there is so much info on here, I categorize each post – there are typically multiple categories as the site allows you to click on that category and all other posts with that same category designation. A reward stay will be categorized by location / award redemption / loyalty program ie for my stay at Zemi Beach House – you could find all related for Anguilla including Anguilla travel guide, the travel hacking details in the trip report, what I thought of the property in the review and then details on what I did/ate/drank during my trip in this trip overview post. You can also see what other trip reports / hotel reviews / trip overviews are like.

Travel Hacking Content

Dropdown Menu

I aim to help you create your beautiful life by showing you how you also can travel around this beautiful life so I show you the exact strategies and techniques I use to travel for better, cheaper and/or more often. So there is a lot of content of travel hacking and dropdown menu is the easiest way to concentrate on finding travel hacking and award travel posts.

Some posts to help you get started here: Intro to Travel Hacking / 2024 Travels Recap (showcases the power of travel hacking and how I could travel 148 days for less than $100/days – including spending nearly two week at the Olympics in Paris to spending many weeks in the expensive Nordics including Northern Lights chasing!)

At the bottom of the feed, there is a link to a loyalty programs page which are a big part of my travel hacking strategy. Note that I am adding programs as I write posts so this is list is definitely not exhaustive of all the programs out there..

Always open to feedback: what is working? what should I consider changing?
