LIMITED TIME OFFERS: Earn Southwest Companion Pass thru 2/28/26 + A-List~DEN!

Why You Want Southwest Airlines Companion Pass

One of the most valuable and coveted perks in air travel is the Southwest Airlines Companion Pass (Companion Pass). Why? It allows you to choose someone who will fly for free (well almost free as you do need to pay taxes and fees) with you – either when you are buying your flight in cash or with points! What it looks like in action is that you pay $400 for your ticket from Denver to New York and your companion would fly for $5.60!

Want me to put this into more perspective? There are other airlines that offer a companion pass but it is for ONE TIME use. When you earn Companion Pass with Southwest, it is UNLIMITED for a set time period – more on that below.

How You Earn Companion Pass Normally

There are two ways to earn a traditional Companion Pass that is good through the end of the year when you qualify AND the following year. For example: you earn Companion Pass in April 2025, it would be valid until end of December 2026!

  • Fly 100 qualifying one-way flights in a calendar year or
  • Earn 135,000 Rapid Reward points in a calendar year. Qualifying points include those earned via cash flights, as well as those earned on Southwest credit cards and with base points earned from Rapid Reward partners

LIMITED TIME OFFER: How You Can NOW EASILY Earn Companion Pass through 2/28/2026

For a limited time, the personal Southwest Rapid Reward credit cards are offering a sign up bonus for new cardholders that includes a Companion Pass (valid through 2/28/2026) and 30,000 bonus points! Offer is valid until March 23, 2025!

Rapid Rewards Credit Cards

This is available on every personal Rapid Reward Credit Card including the Plus with the lowest annual fee of $69/year – the sign up bonus including the Companion pass will be given after you after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.

Unsure about what a sign up bonus is – read this. And how to meet a credit card spend requirement – read this!

Use as a Trial Run for a Traditional Companion Pass/Fast Track

Remember that ALL points earned via a Rapid Reward credit card counts towards the baseline 135,000 Rapid Rewards including the 30,000 earned via this promotion. There is a shortcut strategy to earn by combining a personal Rapid Reward credit card with a business Rapid Reward credit card that would still be in play IF you decide that you want to get companion through the end of 2026 (please note that all 135,000 RR points would need to be earned in 2025!)

AND THERE’S ANOTHER EXCITING OFFER!

Why You Want Southwest Airlines A-List Status

I have found that the two valuable benefits of A List for me were the priority boarding: Southwest automatically reserves a boarding position 36 hours prior to the flight but all parties on your reservation will still need to check in within 24 hours of scheduled departure to retrieve your boarding passes. I HATED having to set a timer to check in right at 24 hours of a Southwest flight to get mid-Bs (iykyk!) And I took full advantage of the same day change as I often change my mind with flights plus with the exception of A-List Preferred and A-List Members, customers who purchase Wanna Get Away fares are not eligible for free same-day changes!

How You Earn A-List Status Normally

  • Fly 20 qualifying one-way flights in a calendar year (“Qualifying Flights” include flights operated by Southwest Airlines® and paid entirely with dollars, Southwest LUV Vouchers®, gift cards, or flight credits and with no portion of the purchase price paid with Rapid Rewards points or Rapid Rewards Business points) or
  • Earn 35,000 Rapid Reward tier qualifying points in a calendar year. (NOTE that tier qualifying points are NOT that same as the rapid reward points that qualify for companion pass ie the 30,000 bonus points earned as the sign up bonus would not count towards this)

LIMITED TIME OFFER: How You Can NOW Earn A-List Status

But if you are flying to/from Denver on points (will travel completed by 11:59 p.m. CT on December 31, 2025 to count)  – your flights WILL COUNT towards earning A-List and A-List Preferred! Here are the full T&C for this offer.
