REVIEWS: Why I Write Them and How I Stay Objective

Sometimes it strikes me as quite pretentious to write reviews but I strive to be as transparent as possible with my trips so this goes along with that.

The aim of my reviews is simply to give you my first hand experience on a flight or staying on a property so that you are able to get as much information as possible about the plane seat or hotel that you are considering booking. There’s a lot of information as I try to make them as thorough as possible knowing that what’s most important for you may be dramatically different from what I value.

And while it does seem a bit snobbish to write that an airline lounge may be average or even meh or that a cruise ship is starting to feel really outdated, the reality is that as you travel often and go to a lot of airport lounges, stay at many hotels, take dozens of flights, etc, the differences do become apparent and sometimes are quite stark.

I try to balance that in my reviews with the fact that for some this may be their first airport lounge/business class/luxury hotel experience so I look to showcase how they may differ from they are used to with traveling.

Lastly, one of the biggest reasons why I have this site is to inspire people to travel and to show how you can replicate my trips. I pay for everything myself using either miles/points or cash and include all of that information in the reviews to underline my commitment to staying objective (vs seeking out sponsored trips/stays/flights).

But at the end of the day for me, travel is a luxury and I am grateful to be able to do as much as I can and am teaching you how you can travel for cheaper, better and/or more often.

  6. Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!

  7. Very good blog! Do you have any tips and hints for aspiring writers? I’m planning to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you suggest starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I’m totally confused .. Any suggestions? Bless you!
