AAdvantage eShopping® Best Practices + Top Tips
- Read the terms and conditions carefully for exclusions and other important information when making a purchase via AAdvantage eShopping® portal (ie not using coupon codes not listed on the AAdvantage eShopping® portal)
- Another question you may have what is the cost? There isn’t any as it is free to join and there are no fees to use!
- Remember how shopping portals are paid by merchants for directing traffic to the merchants’ websites so accordingly rely on cookies to prove where your sale came from? This is why it’s vital to have cookies enabled and unfortunately means that certain browsers are not ideal for shopping (Safari is the main one for me and it is a case of do not use at all when making a purchase through the portal).
- Also screenshot/screen record each step in case you need to submit an inquiry to AA / also keep email receipts for the same reason!
- Read through why I love and continue to use AAdvantage eShopping® myself for even more detailed information
Why You Should Do This
If you had shopping to do: this is a great way to start earning or adding AA miles. Remember that one of the big rules for travel hacking is to maximize any spend you were going to make and this is one that can have big dividends! I love my AA miles and have used them for some great redemptions and you can start to redeem them for flights as low as 7,000 miles and pay just $5.60 in taxes.
One of the things that I like about booking award flights with AA is that you purchase a main cabin fare and that there are no penalties/cost for cancellations!
Still Don’t Believe Me? Here’s Why AA Miles Are So Valuable

There are flights from DEN (Denver, Colorado) to AXA (Anguilla) in January 2026 for 8,000 miles and $20.60 in taxes or if you want to fly from New York to Los Angeles in August, you can find flights as low as 7,000 miles and $5.60.
There are many that will say to save your miles especially your AA ones to fly business class (or even first class) to Japan via JAL or to experience Eithad’s phenomenal first class suite, but I am of the mind set that you do you – if this allows you to take a vacation that you otherwise wouldn’t or saving money on flights means you can do more on vacations – do it!
