Refresher on How Flexible Points Can Be Very Valuable

If you were to use your Capital One miles in the Capital One travel portal, you would have a set value (each mile = $.01 so 75,000 miles = $750.00). So how do you get more value when transferring to a Capital One travel partner? The flight price isn’t directly correlated to the Capital One miles value – here’s a real life example.

I flew Singapore Airlines in a lie-flat business class seat that was selling for $2,195.30 – if booked through Capital One travel portal or redeemed for straight cash back, I would have needed to redeem 219,530 Capital One miles! Instead I paid $5.60 and used 56,700 Singapore Air Miles: Capital One transfers at a 1:1 ratio so it would have been 56,700 Capital One Miles AND ONE BIG (and beneficial) perk for Capital One is that the minimum transfer amount is 1,000 but then you are able to transfer in 100 increments (unlike the others where you have to transfer in 1000 increments!)
