Possible Uses For 35K Points Free Night Award

Best value can mean a lot of things: again I always say that if you are able to travel for cheaper, better or more often, then you are doing this right but perhaps it is easier to make my case with some examples?

PORTUGAL: While I love, love, LOVE Hyatt, one of the big downsides is the small footprint of their hotels means that there aren’t many in a country ie Portugal. Marriott is at the opposite end of the spectrum being in many, many places and Portugal has many mid tiers and even some luxury hotels within the 35K-50K range in/near Porto, Lisbon (Penha Longa Resort in Sintra has Friday and Saturday nights available from 38K points through early April with some random days through June!) and the Algarve region!

DISNEYLAND: I have been getting a number of requests to help with travel hacking Disney vacations and this is a prime example of how to offset costs (airline and hotel) so you can use cash for experiences because dang those Disney tickets are pricey! You could book a night at one of the two SpringHills Suite Hotels that offer complimentary breakfast and both are close enough to walk to Disney and watch the firework shows (some nights as low as 37K points including during spring break)

Why You Should Do This (ie Why Am I Doing This?)

I don’t have any upcoming Marriott stays or travels planned but I still signed up just in case I ended up booking some nights – it’s an easy way to score a free night award!

Rosemary is a travel hacker, points nerd and female solo traveler who’s explored 70+ countries without a trust fund, sugar daddy, or sponsored content. Every mile, upgrade, and trip is completely self-funded using a mix of points, miles, and cash or earned with elite status. And she shows you the receipts along with a mildly concerning amount of spreadsheets. Through firsthand experience and plenty of trial and error, she teaches everyday travelers the art of travel hacking and how they too can travel for cheaper, better, and more often. While Rosemary doesn’t take herself too seriously, she does take award travel (and searching for the best ice cream) seriously – because seeing the world shouldn’t be reserved for the rich, the retired, or content creators with brand deals.
