Why I am Attending a Timeshare Presentation (Hilton Grand Vacation 100 K Points Offer!)
Hot take: timeshares can be an integral part of travel hacking. Remember that I define travel hacking as strategies and/or techniques employed to allow you to travel for cheaper, better and/or more often
What is a Timeshare?
The premise behind timeshares is that they allow people to own vacation property – basically you pay $XX for the right to live in a property for a specific number of days – there are others that also partially own the holiday home. Vacation clubs work in the same way but instead of paying $XX for one specific vacation property, that money allows you to stay at a portfolio of properties.
Why are Timeshares controversial?
- The fees/maintenance/surcharges/dues may be reasonable at first but then rise steeply – sometimes exponentially
- The biggest issue is the contracts and are designed to be difficult if not impossible to get out of
- Many people attending the presentation state that there are high pressure situations with aggressive sales tactics and that they were misled and/or pressured into the sales
Why I am Getting A Timeshare?
Well this is the thing – I am not getting a timeshare – I am simply attending a presentation for one since the terms are too good to pass up!
What is the Hilton Offer?
- Hilton Grand Vacations 3 Nights Getaways – pay $ for the following locations
- $199 – Las Vegas Nevada
- $199 – Orlando, Florida
- $299 – Williamsburg, Virginia
- $299 – Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
- $299 – Gatlinburg, Tennessee
- After the getaway, I will also receive 100,000 Hilton Honor points
- Supposedly this is a targeted offer but if you want to try your luck call 1.888.557.4894
Fine Print of My Hilton Offer?
- Offer is only for accommodations and there are typically a few different properties that you may end up staying at
- Offer expires 7/15/2025 AND you must travel within 12 months of purchase date
- Must attend a 2 hour Hilton Grand Vacation / timeshare presentation (if you do not attend or do not meet eligibility requirements, your credit card will be charged the full retail value of the offer)
- Some of the main eligibility requirements include income, credit score + if you are married or cohabitating that both parties attend
- For the full term and conditions, click here
Beautiful tip: Do NOT sign up for any of these presentations if you are not confident in being able to say no!
Why Am I Doing This Again?
So I have done a number of these presentations in the past as 1. pushy salespeople are no match for me but especially if they try to talk numbers and/or travel expenses (hellooooo I spent less that $100 a day to travel 148 days last year including going to the Olympics) so 2. I know that I will say no.
This is an opportunity to go somewhere new for a really great price ($100/night) and I will get 100,000 Hilton Honor points!
Which Offer Am I Taking?
And that is the big question mark – I am still mulling it over and also will call in to discuss if I can choose a different location….

Rosemary is a travel hacker, points nerd and female solo traveler who’s explored 70+ countries without a trust fund, sugar daddy, or sponsored content. Every mile, upgrade, and trip is completely self-funded using a mix of points, miles, and cash or earned with elite status. And she shows you the receipts along with a mildly concerning amount of spreadsheets. Through firsthand experience and plenty of trial and error, she teaches everyday travelers the art of travel hacking and how they too can travel for cheaper, better, and more often. While Rosemary doesn’t take herself too seriously, she does take award travel (and searching for the best ice cream) seriously – because seeing the world shouldn’t be reserved for the rich, the retired, or content creators with brand deals.
